Highlanders Connect
Alumni Mentoring Students
As we strive to develop future leaders and prepare our students for lifelong learning, the objective of the Highlanders Connect Program is to connect current students with successful alumni professionals, providing opportunities to learn and grow as student leaders and future professionals.
Highlanders Connect is an alumni volunteer mentoring program offering several events throughout the school year:
Professional Development Luncheon
Alumni volunteers will act as table hosts, greeting students and facilitating conversations during the networking event. A guest speaker will guide students through table discussion topics and professional etiquette techniques during a seated lunch. 12th-grade students will mix and mingle with LHP alums to practice networking skills.
Career Day
Alumni volunteers will conduct mock interviews and resume writing workshops and review resume submissions from 11th-grade students, as they prepare for Junior Job Shadows. Students will practice networking skills with alumni volunteers. Professional headshots will be taken free of charge for all students and alumni volunteers who attend this event.
Speaker Series
Students will learn from alumni speakers on a variety of topics including, personal branding, social media, resume and biography writing, interview skills, and more.
All volunteers must submit the Lake Highland Volunteer Agreement in order to volunteer with students.
