Creating Community & Connections
The heartbeat of LHP is its deeply rooted and connected Highlander community. Students and parents experience a profound sense of belonging at LHP through a diverse range of programs, activities, and opportunities to serve throughout the school year. Volunteer opportunities, service projects, and events are designed to welcome new families and students, build community, and invite new and old friends to come together in school pride and unity.
Student Ambassadors
LHP student ambassadors extend a warm welcome to all new Highlanders and are available to offer helpful advice during their first weeks. In addition, new students in all divisions are matched with current Highlanders in the same grade with similar interests. These efforts help new students establish friendships and build peer-to-peer connections. We are proud of the ways Highlanders welcome new students into our diverse community and support and encourage them to help them achieve their goals and dreams.
Parent Community
New parents are also warmly welcomed into the Highlander parent community. The parent association (LHPA), athletic boosters (Booster Club), and arts supporters (Arts League) offer ample opportunities to connect with other parents and support areas of LHP that mean the most to your family. Volunteering is an important and impactful way to become embedded in school life. Dedicated parent volunteers create unforgettable experiences for LHP students and their families to learn, grow, and have fun together.
Student Clubs
With more than 20+ student clubs to choose from in Middle School, seventh and eighth-grade students form close relationships with their peers based on shared interests. A few Middle School clubs include MathCounts, Robotics, Future Problem Solvers, Philosophy, French Club, Environmental Club, National Junior Honor Society, and Dungeons & Dragons Club. Ninth through twelfth-grade students can pursue their unique interests and take advantage of leadership opportunities in 70+ student-led clubs and organizations at LHP.
Go. Serve. Love.
Bring the Family
A variety of cultural, entertaining, and celebratory events bring the whole family together throughout the school year. Some of them include:
Homecoming
A fun, school-wide fall tradition celebrates alumni coming back to LHP and current families coming together. Games, activities, music, and food kick off this celebration before the homecoming football game and king and queen recognition.
Veterans Salute
One of the most widely celebrated and recognized traditions on our campus is our annual Veterans Day tribute. Welcoming more than 2,000 visitors to campus, 500+ students and faculty members rehearse for months to honor Veterans from across Central Florida with a moving program.
Grandparents Day
A beloved LHP annual tradition, Grandparents Day celebrates grandparents through entertainment (face painting, photo opportunities, and visits to Lower School classrooms) and student-led performances.
Professional Performers & Speakers
LHP welcomes talented musicians, guest speakers, and artists to campus for the community to enjoy and continue the pursuit of lifelong learning.
