The Lake Highland Athletic Training staff is committed to providing student-athletes with the highest quality health care accessible to improve athletic performance following injuries and increase overall well-being through the Sports Medicine program.

Program Overview

LHP’s athletic trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize an athlete’s participation in sports, work, and life. The practice of athletic training encompasses:

Examination and diagnosis of neuromusculoskeletal conditions and certain medical conditions
Treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, subacute, and chronic neuromusculoskeletal conditions
Injury and illness prevention strategies

As health care providers, the athletic training staff is educated and qualified to:

Provide on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate treatment of injuries and illnesses
Facilitate rehabilitation and reconditioning after injury
Determine an athlete’s readiness to participate in sports
Promote safe and appropriate practices and competitions

Eligibility Requirements

For your child to participate in Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) sponsored activities, a profile must be completed on Athletic Clearance and all necessary forms submitted electronically 3 business days prior to the first date of participation.

Please print and complete the Pre-Participation Physical Examination form below as required by the (FHSAA). These forms can also be found on the Athletic Clearance website. This form must be submitted electronically via Athletic Clearance (link below in the Athletic Clearance tab).

NFHS Videos

As per FHSAA policies 40.1.1, 41.1, and 42.1.1, all student-athletes are required to watch the following free NFHS Learn courses each academic year. Completion certificates must be dated post June 1 for the respective academic year.

Athletic Clearance

ImPACT

ImPACT is an objective tool to support trained healthcare providers in making sound return-to-activity decisions following concussions. It’s a computerized test that measures memory, attention span, and visual and verbal problem solving. ImPACT has two primary uses: before the onset of an activity, a baseline test is conducted to measure the athlete’s performance baseline. In the event of an injury, a post-injury test is administered and compared to the baseline or normative data scores.

A valid baseline is required every two years while participating in LHP Athletics. Baseline tests will be emailed to the Lake Highland student email account as needed. This should be completed in a quiet environment utilizing either a desktop computer or laptop.

Lake Highland Preparatory School is located at 901 Highland Ave, Orlando, FL 32803. The Gina Martin Athletic Training Room is located in the Weng Family Gymnasium, Room WG101. Regular operating hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additionally, an auxiliary athletic training room is located in the Meffe Field House (adjacent to the stadium field).

The athletic training room is open 90 minutes prior to competition, 30 minutes after competition, and by appointment.

IF YOUR TEAM WILL NOT BE TRAVELING WITH A CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER, PLEASE NOTIFY US PRIOR TO YOUR VISIT.

A certified athletic trainer and athletic training student will be present at all competitions. A physician and emergency medical services will be present for football contests. If your athlete requires treatment and must be taped, braced, or wrapped, please make sure they bring adequate supplies. Gina Martin Athletic Training Room

Named for a beloved LHP athletic trainer who passed away in 2009, the Gina Martin Training Room is home to our three full-time athletic trainers. Located inside the Weng Family Gymnasium, this 1,400-square-foot facility provides our student-athletes with onsite injury prevention, rehabilitation, and care. The Gina Martin Training Room is equipped with an electronic injury management sign-in system, cold tub, two E-Stim machines, a therapeutic ultrasound machine, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization tools, cupping tools, and Norma Tech equipment for upper and lower extremities.

Meffe Athletic Training Room

A satellite facility located inside of the Meffe Family Field House and adjacent to the CNL Stadium, the Meffe Athletic Training Room provides on-site care during all football, soccer, lacrosse, and track & field practices and competitions. The Meffe Athletic Training Room is equipped with a cold whirlpool, ultrasound/electronic stimulation machine, hydrocollator, two treatment tables and two taping tables.
