Enhancing Self-Expression with Art
Beginning as early as PreK, visual art students begin developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while cultivating their self-expression by using various art media and techniques, such as drawing, painting, ceramics, fiber arts, sculpture, photography, digital media, and new media.
Artists build the confidence to create intentional, meaningful choices in their art through collaboration, community-centered projects, and discussions of art criticism, aesthetics, art history, and storytelling. These hands-on opportunities are intended to teach student artists at all levels about the creative process and to also help them develop skills in a wide variety of diverse techniques.
Ceramics
Ceramics and pottery are some of the oldest human inventions, dating back to 28,000 BCE. During these courses, students are introduced to the same fundamental methods and techniques, including forming clay and hand-building, that have been used throughout history.
Photography
Photography adds so much value to life by capturing unforgettable moments in time. These courses are designed to help students gain a basic understanding of the principles and processes of digital photography.
Studio Arts
From hieroglyphics to the world’s most treasured masterpieces, Studio Arts encompasses all forms of drawing, painting, and artistic design.
Digital Storytelling
Digital Storytelling classes are for future broadcast journalists. Students develop storytelling, production, and presentation skills. They create morning announcements, a weekly sports program for social media, and promotional projects for the school.
Digital Art and Design Technologies
In today's world, image editing skills can be useful in various areas, such as website editing, art projects, graphic production, video enhancement, presentation creation, and photo refinement. This course is designed for those who wish to improve their skills with Adobe editing software and gain a better understanding of the powerful tools and techniques used by photographers and graphic designers.
Digital Video Production
Digital Video Production is designed for students wanting to pursue film and television production in college. The course curriculum encompasses camera and editing skills, as well as audio, lighting, and scriptwriting. Students also learn live-production skills by filming the multitude of events that occur on campus.
