Mr. Jim McIntyre began serving the Lake Highland Preparatory School community in July 2022 as the school’s tenth President. During his more than 30-year career in independent school education, his roles have included classroom teacher, academic advisor, Assistant Academic Dean, and various Head and Assistant Coaching positions. Before arriving at LHP, he served as the President and CEO of Father Ryan High School, the largest private high school in Tennessee, for 17 years.
Notable leadership initiatives and awards he has led over his career include co-founding the “Hero Project,” which confers diplomas on former students who left school to defend the United States during World War II but never returned to school to graduate. As a coach, he was a member of the Super 3A Football State Championship staff, and in 1995, he was named the Texas Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. He served as the President of the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools in Tennessee and is currently on the Florida Council of Independent Schools board.
A 1991 University of North Texas graduate, Mr. McIntyre received his B.A. in History and earned a Meadows Foundation Fellowship in 1995 to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce, earning a Master’s in Educational Administration. In 2007, Mr. McIntyre participated as a Summer Fellow at the Institute for Independent School Leadership, Vanderbilt University, Peabody College.
Mr. McIntyre and his wife of 30 years, Amy, have three adult children: Peter, Henry, and Anna Grace.
