The actions of the Board of Trustees are established and governed by the Bylaws of Lake Highland Preparatory School, Inc.
The Bylaws specifically define the Trustees' roles, committee structure, terms of service, meetings, voting requirements, and other procedures.
The Bylaws provide for Trustees to number between 15 and 25 Board members, with each member serving up to three consecutive 3-year terms. Board officers are exempt from the term limits.
To help accomplish the Board's work, an Executive Committee comprised of Board officers and focused on strategic policies and long-range planning is supported by five Standing Committees. These committees include the Committee on Trustees (focused on trustee selection and development, the Finance Committee (focused on the school's fiscal health), the Building Committee (focused on infrastructure development and building maintenance), the Development Committee (focused on overall school development and advancement initiatives), and the Head of School support committee. The Board of Trustees may also establish special committees when necessary to focus on important school priorities such as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee established in 2020. Each Trustee serves on at least one committee.
