Nearly every sport requires an athlete to improve their strength and conditioning in order to reach their full potential. Strength and conditioning training is the purpose and product of the weight room.
But the most important asset in the weight room is not a piece of hardware, it is Mr. Thomas Scott, Lake Highland's strength and conditioning coach, more popularly known as Coach T. Coach T is a veteran Certified Strength and Conditioning Trainer with over 30 years of experience. Graduating with a B.S. from Western Illinois University, he went on to a career in football and played in the NFL,the Canadian Football League, and the World Football League in Germany. He has been a strength and conditioning coach at Rutgers University and is currently serving in a similar role with the Orlando Pride, the city's women's professional soccer team. Coach T uses his considerable experience to not only train athletes, but also to design strength and conditioning facilities. As one might expect, Lake Highland's facility and equipment are outstanding and are well suited for training in any sport.
We offer tread-mills, spin cycles, and Arc trainers for cardio exercise; Olympic platforms and benches; multi-rack squat machines; multi-station weight machines; specialty devices to develop vertical jumping; a fully loaded floor for jumping exercises; a Magnum Biangular seven station circuit system; and a vast array of dumbbells, weights, and other devices. Each sport has its own specifically designed program, and all work-outs are monitored by Coach T. More important that the hardware, though, is the philosophy that every athlete receives personal attention and encouragement to develop to her or his greatest potential.
