Lake Highland benefits greatly from the generosity of its parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends. Their gifts of time, talent, and treasure help transform our school as we strive to become the best we can be.
Our families invest in creating the LHPS education first with their tuition dollars; tuition provides the revenue needed to offer the outstanding core education here. But we are committed to offering even more, and gifts allow us to enhance programs, technology, and professional development for our employees, resulting in the extraordinary Highlander education.
The Highlander Fund is the backbone of fundraising at Lake Highland. Gifts to the Highlander Fund are used each year to enhance and expand programs and opportunities for our students and our faculty and staff. Gifts to the Highlander Fund can be unrestricted- thereby supporting the components of the LHPS experience considered the highest priority. Or gifts to the Highlander Fund can be restricted to any area of interest- the arts or athletics, leadership or debate.
Since 2005, LHPS has sponsored capital campaigns for capital (building) needs on campus. Donors have generously given more than $20 million to build the Harriett Coleman Center for the Arts, the Meffe Family Field House, the Hudson House (president’s home), and a new baseball field, and to provide turf for the main athletic field and renovate the Weng Family Gymnasium.
In addition to the Highlander Fund and capital campaigns, donors may fund the school’s endowment through gifts to the LHPS Foundation. Several endowments exist within the Foundation- their purpose is to provide long-term resources that support various components of the school’s mission. Only the income is spent from the endowment - never the principal - so our endowment functions like a savings account for the school.
