MEDIA CENTERS

Upper School Media Center

The Upper School Media Center is located in the Calkins Library building. The Media Center is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A full-time librarian and library assistant are available to help students in grades 6-12 locate materials for research projects, class assignments and recreational reading. Students in 6th-12th grade can borrow from the Upper School and Middle School collections. Together these collections contain over 12,000 books. Titles can be accessed online: library.lhps.org. Books may be borrowed for three weeks. The Upper School Media Center subscribes to ten online databases (which include full-text articles from periodicals, journals, encyclopedias, books, e books and newspapers) and 40 print journals / magazines. The Upper School Library Computer Lab has 21 PCs and there are 50 laptops available for student use (within the Calkins Library building). Students are each assigned their own account. They can access the internet and printer (to print in color, please ask for assistance). Students with their own laptops have internet and printer access through a wireless hub. There is a photocopier for student use (10¢ per copy).

The Hope and Bill Roll Center for Media & Technology
(Middle School Media Center)

Lake Highland Preparatory School Middle School is proud to house the Hope and Bill Roll Center for Media & Technology, which combines state-of-the-art research technology with traditional book lending and hands-on reference resources. The Middle School Media Center is designed to integrate with the campus-wide wireless network, to distribute our media resources into the classroom, and even at home. 
Our services include:

On-site reference collection selected to support and enhance the middle school curriculum. 
A comfortably furnished young-adult reading room designed to encourage LHPS Middle School students to browse, sit, and read. 
Online catalogue access to the LHPS Upper School Media Center, providing online check-out and same-day delivery of over 11,200 titles. 
10 state-of-the-art online reference databases, provide access to an expansive selection of books and research articles, accessible from the media center, the classroom, and home.

Lower School Media Center

The Hardy M. "Hank" Snow Lower School Library is located in the Bradshaw Building. Hours of operation are 7:40 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Students in Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade use the library throughout the week. Students come to the library as a class or on an individual basis. The collection contains approximately 14,000 titles including books and videos which can be accessed through our computerized card catalog. The Lower School Library has 11 student computers that are used for Accelerated Reader Quizzes, Internet access, connection to online reference subscriptions, as well as the library card catalog.
