Audio Enhancement is a system that not only amplifies sound in a classroom but more importantly brings clarity to sound intonations and variations.  During our children’s formative developmental years, phonemic and linguistic capacities are developing. New research supports the concept of brain elasticity allowing for the growth and pruning of pathways supporting potential learning.  These developments in our children and students are not automatic; they are affected by the quality of auditory input.  All students during these formative years would greatly benefit from audio enhancement in their classrooms, although some research points out the increased importance of quality auditory input for boys.

Grades PK-8 are the key years in which brain development and linguistic capacities are developing the most, therefore, LHPS would like every classroom in these grade levels to be outfitted with audio enhancement equipment.  The equipment includes specially designed speakers, amplifier and microphones.  We currently have several classrooms outfitted and several classrooms with partial equipment. 

In order for every classroom to be fitted for a complete audio enhancement package, the average cost would be $1,500 per classroom.

An Interactive Response system is designed to enhance interactive teaching and learning.  The student response pads or “clickers” are small, handheld devices that capture instant data from students.  Teachers can engage every child in class material by creating an interactive learning environment in their classrooms. 

First, a teacher will create a quiz by using a variety of question types, including true or false, multiple choice, and numeric questions.  Students key in answers with their remotes and send their responses privately, so they are free to answer without feeling judged by peers.  The responses are tallied and then displayed on a screen or whiteboard.  Students who normally remain silent in class can now answer every question without fear of embarrassment.  And since the teacher sees instant feedback from the entire class, they know whether to move on or continue teaching a concept.

PE teachers would love to have these 7” long Mini Insta-Pulse Heart Rate Monitors for all the Physical Education classes.  These are ideal for evaluations – they’re fast, accurate and consistent.  Kids just have to cover the rings at both ends of the cylinder with both hands for a quick heart rate measurement.

Be a part of the new field at LHPS and buy as many square yards as you want….100% of Lake Highland students use the main field for P.E. classes, field sports, track and field, band, cheerleading and other activities. Our P.E. students use the field daily and our athletes use it year-round. That extensive use causes the field to deteriorate, creating a poor playing surface. Our goal is to replace the existing grass with the highest quality artificial turf and give students a field with a surface that minimizes injuries, is available 24/7, and has low maintenance costs.
