1.
I see children at the pool facility all of the time. How do I get my child
involved?
The aquatics program at LHPS is an exceptionally healthy and reliable after
school activity. You can contact the aquatics program by visiting their website
at www.highlanderaquatics.org, where you will find information about lessons,
camps, seasonal swim teams, year round swimming, the high school team, even
adult lap swimming.
2. The 'ALL Learning
Lab'- is it just for Edison students?
The
CNL- Academic Learning Lab is a new LHPS facility which will house academic
learning support and resources for all of our students PK-12. Many of our
current support programs such as tutoring and specific learning programs will
move into the new centrally located building behind the Calkins Library. In
addition, the ALL can accommodate any newly discovered student learning needs
and programs designed to enhance individual learning strategies. Consultation
meetings, study groups, supplementary learning programs, student learning
support and research are a sampling of the services a dynamic program like this
can offer. All LHPS students, classroom teachers, counselors, tutors, Edison
Program teachers, and parents will have access to the facility and programs.
This new facility, the CNL~Academic Learning Lab, will strengthen and support
the LHPS mission to prepare our students for college and lifelong learning.
Detailed information will be sent to all LHPS parents this summer. If you have
immediate questions, contact Mrs. Jayne Beucher, ext. 3231 or Mrs. Kathy Taylor
ext. 3336. The CNL~Academic Learning Lab is the result of a concerted effort on
the part of parents and faculty to provide optimal learning for our students.
3. How can my child be
in the Middle School Musical?
The
Middle School offers the unique opportunity for any student to be a part of a
musical production through the Musical Theater Class. Rehearsals take place
largely during class time. Students have an opportunity to participate in a
variety of activities while being a part of a musical production.
