Landmark College

As the nation’s leading college for students with learning disabilities and AD/HD, we have created two very popular programs to respond to this need.

Three-Week High School Program for Juniors: July 8 – 28, 2007

  • Many bright students with learning difficulties lose confidence as they move through traditional high school curricula. By focusing on engaging a student’s innate intellectual curiosity, the Landmark College high school summer program helps disenfranchised high school students rediscover an interest in college study.
  • Last summer Landmark added explicit support for students to prepare for the college admissions process, including meetings with our own college placement staff and developing their own college essay. Students come away with a new understanding of and tools to approach the college application process.

Transition to College Program for Recent Graduates: July 22 – August 4, 2007

  • This program is designed for bright, college-bound high school graduates with learning differences who have been accepted to a college or university. With the support of our experienced instructors, students experience the first two weeks of a typical college semester and learn how to establish new strategies and skill sets.
  • Students will be asked to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and create an individualized plan for success. Students are also introduced to Landmark College’s internationally renowned writing and study strategies.

Lifeworks: Global Service Learning Program for Teens 2008

Lifeworks is about people, the people with whom we interact, as we as those f us who select to add our hands to the Lifeworks line and pull together as a team.  Just by taking part in a Lifeworks project, you can further identify and actualize your potential as you make your difference count in a positive way.  By working in community with others, we are able to impact and leave an imprint on three interrelated levels:

-Human: One-on-one interactions while working toward a common goal, building understanding and camaraderie, person by person.

-Community: Working in community is working together to achieve results that go beyond what a single person might accomplish individually. Positive efforts inspire community growth because good works can be contagious.

-Global: It has been said that small acts of kindness can ultimately have an impact on a global level.

We couple the work we do with the Lifeworks Forum offered at various times during the program, focusing our group discussions on subjects that allow participants to share their own unique life perspectives and pick up what is useful from the experience of others as well.

Lifework enables each of us to take what we learn and, in small ways each day, spread our legacy through the works we offer to assist others.  It’s our way to pay it forward.
