Lake
Highland Preparatory School continues to use advanced technology
to further enhance the educational experience of our students.
Technology is used on our entire campus including the computer
labs, wireless labs, classrooms and in our school television
studio. You will find at least one computer in every classroom,
however, many rooms have more.
The
LHPS campus is designed for high speed network and internet
access. With a fiber gigabit backbone and two T1 lines, our
students have the tools they need to access network and internet
resources. Lake Highland is very aware of the dangers on the
internet and this is why we invest in web filtering software
to block undesirable websites from our students.

Lake
Highland Preparatory School has a total of eleven computer
labs including three open labs which are distributed between
the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools. The classroom computer
labs are used for computer science, graphic and website
design, writing composition, yearbook editing, music theory
and foreign language classes. The open labs are designed
for students to have access to computers when needed.
Teachers can also reserve these labs to bring their students
for classroom projects and research. Back

With
the expansion of wireless technology, Lake Highland has
implemented wireless areas throughout the campus. Currently,
the Calkins Library and Rossman Writing Center are wireless.
Students can check out laptops and use them in the library
and writing center. In Lower School, a cart on wheels
with wireless laptops can be checked out by teachers for
classroom use. Back

Technology
and Multimedia are streamed together in our fully digital
state of the art television studio. Students experience
all aspects of broadcasting in producing two daily newscasts
as well as virtual assemblies, presentations and productions.
Multimedia labs are equipped with professional editing
software for both Mac and PC. Students design virtual
sets, digital imaging, and 3D animation. Technology is
used cross curriculum in various applications in the classroom
and the signal is sent throughout the campus via fiber
optic. Back to top |

Technology
in the Classroom
Technology
is increasingly being used within the classroom. You will
find at least two computers in every Lower School classroom.
These are used for many educational programs, including
Accelerated Reader and Star Reading. SmartBoard technology
is being used campus wide. Many Upper and Middle School
classrooms have permanent SmartBoards. The teachers create
their lessons for multimedia use and the students can
interact at the board. The Upper and Middle School Science
Departments have classroom sets of laptops for labs and
multimedia learning. Laptops can also be found in the
music department to use with piano keyboards. All classrooms
have televisions and some have projectors. With the use
of computer to TV converters, teachers can show their
multimedia lessons on screens or televisions. Back
