Lower School Guidance

Lake Highland Preparatory School provides a comprehensive program of developmental and academic guidance and counseling. The Lower School has two certified counselors. Our Guidance Program helps students develop and maintain a positive self-concept, assume personal responsibility and appreciate others. Our counselors monitor each student's academic progress, conduct conferences, coordinate testing and facilitate parent-student-teacher-administrator interaction.

Our Lower School Guidance Department administers the Fruits of the Spirit program, a program that teaches our students moral and spiritual values. Each month, students focus on a particular value, such as kindness, gentleness and patience. Lower School classroom teachers reinforce the values presented through classroom discussions and literature.

Middle School Guidance

Lake Highland Preparatory School provides a comprehensive program of developmental and academic guidance and counseling. One certified counselor serves our Middle School students and develops an individualized educational plan which ensures the appropriate academic placement to challenge the student to achieve his or her fullest potential.

Additionally, our counselor monitors academic progress, conducts conferences, coordinates testing, facilitates parent-student-administrator interaction and directs our Mentor Program. College advisement begins as early as eighth grade and is an ongoing process through the student's acceptance to college.

Upper School Guidance

Lake Highland Preparatory School provides a comprehensive program of developmental and academic guidance and counseling. One certified counselor serves our 9th graders and three counselors/college advisors serve the 10th, 11th and 12th graders.

Our counselors and advisors in the Upper School develop an individualized educational plan to challenge each student to his or her fullest potential. Additionally, our counselors monitor academic progress, conduct conferences, coordinate testing, facilitate parent-student-teacher-administrator interaction and coordinate the Faculty Advisor Program.

Lake Highland's College and Career Center is the campus hub for expert college and career counseling. the Center offers students and parents the opportunity to explore the many available post-secondary educational opportunities and to find the best college match for each student.
