2008 Summer Study Abroad – Salamanca, Spain
June 21 – July 19, 2008

We will be sponsoring a study abroad program in 2008 in Salamanca, Spain.  Our partner for this program is “A Different Spain”, an educational and travel tour company with a main office in Salamanca, Spain.  Their website is www.adifferentspain.com.

Objective

To provide students with an opportunity to practice Spanish, expand vocabulary and improve pronunciation as well as learn about Spanish culture through immersion

The Journey

The program will begin with an 8 day journey through the most fascinating regions of Spain.  We speak Spanish during our travels, bring the past to life during our walking tours, and reach for the perfect balance between group cultural activities and free time.  By the time our journey ends, you’ll speak the language more comfortably, know more about Spanish history and feel at home in Spain.

The City:  Salamanca

Salamanca offers the ideal combination of history, academic focus and purity of language. Spanish students will learn in the school is exactly what one hears on the streets of Salamanca:  a pure “Castellano” without any dialect.

The Schools

Only the best private language academies in Spain were chosen.  Salamanca has quality schools with class sizes not to exceed 9 students.  All schools are located within walking distance to the major sites.

The Homestay

For many students, living with a warm, Spanish family is the highlight of the entire summer.  We select families with care, knowing that the homestay is the key to experiencing the authentic Spain.  Students learn the customs, food, routines and way of life through their own experiences.  Living with a family gives students the chance to practice Spanish all day long and at the same time expands their vocabulary and improves pronunciation.

Group Leaders

Native-born group leaders will be with the students during the entire stay in Spain.  They will make certain that every need is met.  All leaders are bilingual.  Additionally, teachers from Lake Highland will accompany each group from beginning to end.

Medical Insurance

All participants are covered with a medical insurance policy for the duration of the Educational Summer Program.
